The film industry is reaping the success of 3D. But in the past, the technology suffered from poor image quality and was considered a niche in the motion picture industry. But with the real moneymaking potential finally peaking with blockbuster hits like James Cameron’s Avatar and DreamWork’s How to Train your Dragon, it looks as if 3D is finally here to stay. Operating System fragmentation is usually thought to be a real bugbear in mobile – making it harder for developers to get product to market at reasonable cost. But for established players with deep pockets, like gaming specialist Electronic Arts, fragmentation has an upside. It raises barriers to entry for those pesky “bedroom developers”.
