Leila Makki is an award-winning video journalist for TelecomTV.com, an online TV channel, where she hosts two weekly programmes. Her shows feature interviews with top telecoms executives, coverage of industry trends, as well as reviews of the latest handsets, applications and gadgets.
She was recently voted 2010′s ‘Technology Woman of the Year’ by the UK Technology Journalist and PR industry (UKTJPR). This summer, Engadget selected her as women in tech to follow on Twitter under “Personalities, Podcasters, Hosts, Developers and Luminaries.”
Leila was on the judging panel for the Mobile Choice Awards, Pocket-Lint Awards, the Meffy’s (Mobile Entertainment Awards) and the prestigious GSM Association’s Global Mobile Awards.
Having a passion for media, her previous experience includes work with organisations like the BBC World Service Trust, PBS Frontline, Tribeca Films, and Arab Film Festival, amongst others.
Leila has a Masters from the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE) and a Bachelors from the University of California, Berkeley.
She spends most of her time writing, researching, (micro) blogging, interviewing, producing and presenting videos.
