Leila Makki is an award-winning freelance journalist and presenter. Prior to going freelance, she was the host of two weekly programmes on TelecomTV. Leila continues to produce videos that feature interviews with top executives, coverage of industry trends, as well as reviews of the latest handsets, applications and gadgets.
She was voted 2010′s ‘Technology Woman of the Year’ by the UK Technology Journalist and PR industry (UKTJPR) and selected by Engadget as a women in tech to follow under “Personalities, Podcasters, Hosts, Developers and Luminaries.”
Leila was on the judging panel for the Mobile News Awards, Mobile Choice Awards, Pocket-Lint Awards, the Meffy’s (Mobile Entertainment Awards) and the GSM Association’s Global Mobile Awards. She has been invited to moderate Mobile Monday London twice in 2011 as well as host a Mobile GameShow.
Having a passion for media, her previous experience includes work with organisations like the BBC World Service Trust, PBS Frontline, Tribeca Films, and Arab Film Festival, amongst others.
Leila has a Masters from the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE) and a Bachelors from the University of California, Berkeley.
She spends most of her time writing, researching, blogging, interviewing, producing and presenting videos.
